A key program Shellie is committed to seeing through as a City Councilor is a "Bus to Work Week".
We need to focus on our current transit system options to make bus passes more "flexible" in the downtown core akin to strategies already in place in other similar urban centres. Shellie believes that the first step in any regional transportation plan is proper utilization of the services we already have, before making hurried decisions on future strategies.
Great strides have been taken to promote cycling in our region to the point that Victoria is recognized as a leader in facilitating cycling as an alternate form of transport in our daily commutes and Shellie believes that the same needs to be done for transit around the city.
Shellie believes that LRT is a regional decision that should be made as part of a larger, regional urban transportation plan. We need to fully understand how to stimulate ridership of an LRT system so that the large expenditure required yields viable and economically sustainable results.
